Francis Ngannou will defend the UFC heavyweight title this Saturday, January 22nd vs interim champion Ciryl Gane. The fight will take place at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California and will be broadcast on pay-per-view.
This will be Ngannou’s first title defense since defeating Stipe Miocic via second round knockout in March of 2021. Prior to that win Ngannou had defeated four heavyweight contenders by first round knockouts in a total of 2 minutes and 42 seconds across the four fights. Ciryl Gane defeated Derrick Lewis via third round TKO to win the interim belt in August. Gane is a worthy challenger, but I’m surprised to see the fight as a pick’em considering Ngannou’s resume.
