He lost his most recent fight to Dmitry Bivol, with the Russians size proving too much for Canelo in the light heavyweight division.
Golovkin has only fought four times since the last Canelo fight. He won the vacant IBF and IBO middleweight titles in his second fight back after Canelo, and defended the belts two times, including an impressive TKO win over Ryota Murata this past April. A lot of focus will be on GGG’s age heading into this fight with Canelo, but his win over Murata proved he still has some elite boxing left in the tank.
