How To Bet On The 2021 NHL Playoffs From USA

By Hockey

The 2021 Stanley Cup Playoffs begin this Saturday, May 15th. The NHL played a shortened 56 game season this year, but the playoffs will return to normal with the top four teams from each division qualifying for the tournament.

The divisions are different this year, but the playoffs follow the normal format. The divisions will do battle in rounds 1 and 2, and then the division champion will move on to the Conference Finals, and that winner will advance to compete for the Stanley Cup. The Stanley Cup Finals are expected to be complete in early July.

On this page I will provide you with everything you need to bet on the 2021 NHL Playoffs from anywhere in the United States. I’ve outlined our top rated betting sites for Americans, touched on the different bets you can make on the NHL Playoffs and finished with a simple 3 step guide you can follow to place your bets online.

Stanley Cup Futures Betting

One of the most popular bets during the NHL Playoffs is simply to wager on the eventual Stanley Cup Champion. This futures bet gives you a sweat through the entire playoffs and if your pick hits you can be in for a big payday.

These odds are found at by opening the ‘Hockey’ drop down menu and selecting ‘NHL Futures’. Here is a screenshot taken before the first round.

You can also bet on the Division and Conference winners in the same NHL Futures section.

NHL Series Winner Betting

Another popular bet is wagering on which team will win a 7 game series. These are my favourite bets in the NHL Playoffs because they give you a multi-game bet and the 7 game series reduces the variance so you can often find +ROI bets if your predictions are correct.

You can also bet on each NHL Playoff Series at any time during the series (the bet doesn’t have to be made when the series starts).

Here’s a screenshot of the odds for the Boston Bruins vs Washington Capitals series.

These odds can be found on the SportsBetting website under the ‘Hockey’ drop down menu by selecting ‘NHL SERIES’.

NHL Playoff Game Betting

You can also wager on every game throughout the NHL Playoffs. The three most popular NHL game bets are the money line (to win), puck line (spread) and over/under (total).

Here’s a screenshot of showing game 4 of last years Canadiens and Flyers playoff series (I will update with an example from this years playoffs when odds become available):

In this example the Flyers are -125 favorites to win the game and take a 3-1 series lead. That means a $125 bet on Philly would win $100 (payout $225). The Canadiens are +113 underdogs, so a $100 bet on the Habs would win $113.
