How To Bet On The 2019 Preakness Stakes From the USA

By Horse Racing

The Preakness Stakes is the second leg of the Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing in the United States.  If a horse is able to follow up their Kentucky Derby win, with another win at the Preakness Stakes, then the hype gets big for the Belmont Stakes because there is a potential Triple Crown winner heading into the race.

This year, Country House won the Kentucky Derby in controversial fashion after Maximum Security, who most agree was the best horse on the day, was disqualified for drifting out of his lane on a turn.  Country House was a huge underdog to win the Derby with closing odds of 65-1.  Unfortunately neither Maximum Security or Country House will be running on Saturday, so there will be no Triple Crown winner this year.

On this page I will outline our recommended betting site for Americans to bet on the Preakness Stakes, the current Preakness betting odds, and a simple 3 step guide to help you get your bets placed on the 2019 Preakness Stakes horse race.

Step 3. Place Your Preakness Bets

Depending on whether you’re betting on the race in the week leading up to the race or on race day itself, there are two different ways you can place your bets.

Fixed Odds

You can place your bets through the BetOnline Sportsbook.  Click on ‘Sports’ on the BetOnline website and then select ‘Horse Futures’ under the ‘Futures’ drop down menu to bring up the Preakness odds.  The odds you see will be fixed odds to win the race, meaning they are locked in when you place the bet and you can only bet on the outright winner of the race in this section.

Parimutuel Odds

You can also bet on the race through the ‘Racebook’ section of the BetOnline website.  Click on ‘Racebook’ and then select ‘Pimlico’ under the ‘American Thoroughbred’ drop down menu.  Select race #13, which begins at 6:48pm EDT and then select which type of bet you would like to make (Win/Place/Show, Exacta, Trifecta, etc).

Select your bets and click ‘Add to Betslip’.  When all of your bets have been added click ‘Submit all bets’ to lock in the wagers.
