How To Bet On The 2023 Preakness Stakes From the USA

By Horse Racing

It’s Preakness week! The 2023 Preakness Stakes will take place this Saturday, May 20th at Pimlico Race Course. The Preakness will once again take place on it’s traditional date on the third Saturday of May, with race coverage broadcast on NBC from 4:30pm to 7:30pm EST (post time is 7:01pm).

There could still be a Triple Crown winner this year. Mage, the Kentucky Derby winner, will enter the Preakness as the morning line favorite as he looks to follow up the Derby win with another victory.

On this page I will outline our recommended betting site for Americans to bet on the Preakness Stakes, the current Preakness betting odds, and a simple 3 step guide to help you get your bets placed on the 2023 Preakness Stakes horse race.

Step 3. Place Your Preakness Bets

Depending on whether you’re betting on the race in the week leading up to the race or on race day itself, there are two different ways you can place your bets.

Fixed Odds

You can place your bets through the BetOnline Sportsbook.  Click on ‘Sports’ on the BetOnline website and then select ‘Horses Daily’ -> ‘Pimlico’ under the ‘Horse Racing’ drop down menu to bring up the Preakness odds.  The odds you see will be fixed odds to win the race, meaning they are locked in when you place the bet and you can only bet on the outright winner of the race in this section.

Parimutuel Odds

You can also bet on the race through the ‘Racebook’ section of the BetOnline website.  Click on ‘Racebook’ and then select ‘Pimlico’ under the ‘American Thoroughbred’ drop down menu.  Select race #13 (post time 7:01pm ET) on May 20th for the Preakness and then select which type of bet you would like to make (Win/Place/Show, Exacta, Trifecta, etc).

Select your bets and click ‘Add To Betslip’.  When all of your bets have been added click ‘Submit All Bets’ to lock in the wagers.

Below is a screenshot example of the Racebook showing clicks to make a bet on Mage to win this years Preakness Stakes.
