Craps Rules – How To Play
Each round in craps is played in a series of rolls. Below I will do my best to outline the different rolls and the bets available to be made before each dice throw.
Come Out Roll
The first roll in a round of craps is known as the come out roll.
Prior to the come out roll you can place ‘Pass Line’ or ‘Don’t Pass’ bets.
A ‘Pass Line’ bet is an even money bet placed on the Pass Line. If the come out roll is a 7 or 11 ‘Pass Line’ bets win and the round ends. If the come out roll is a 2, 3 or 12, ‘Pass Line’ bets lose and the round ends. ‘Don’t Pass’ bets win if a 2 or 3 is rolled and push if a 12 is rolled. If any other number is rolled, that amount is called the ‘point’. When a ‘point’ is rolled the round continues.
Subsequent Rolls
The round now continues until either the ‘point’ or a 7 is rolled. After the first round, ‘Pass Line’ bets win if the point is rolled, while ‘Don’t Pass’ bets win if a 7 is rolled.
Prior to subsequent rolls you also have the option to place more bets.
The ‘Come’ and ‘Don’t Come’ bets are essentially ‘Pass Line’ and ‘Don’t Pass’ bets made after the come out roll, and they payout in the same ways.
